Ben Adelson

President & COO, Mercury Records

As President & COO of Mercury Records, Ben Adelson continues to develop and champion career artists. He notably signed “Best New Artist” GRAMMY® nominee Noah Kahan who has exploded as a chart-topping stadium headliner, GRAMMY® Award-nominated multi-platinum troubadour James Bay, and burgeoning multiplatinum newcomer Stephen Sanchez—all of whom he’s worked with since day one. During 2007, Adelson launched his career at Republic Records as an intern and started as Avery Lipman’s assistant in 2008. Simultaneously, he managed and fostered the career of Young The Giant, igniting the band’s rise as a multi-platinum arena-filling alternative force of nature. In 2011, he re-joined the Republic Records team as Director of A&R. The label advanced him to VP of A&R in 2013 and SVP of A&R in 2015 and EVP of A&R in 2018. During his tenure at Republic, Adelson also signed Gen-Z pop icon Conan Gray, indie phenomenon Lord Huron, and more. Along the way, Billboard highlighted him as “Executive of the Week,” honoring him on lists including “40 Under 40” and “Country Powers Players,” and as a 2025 “Power 100” honoree with additional features from outlets like Variety, Music Connection Magazine, Music Business Worldwide, HITS Daily Double and more. During 2022, he and Tyler Arnold reignited and relaunched Mercury Records as General Manager and President, respectively. He is based in Mercury Records’ Los Angeles headquarters.
