Scott is an accomplished leader, strategist and innovator with a long history of leveraging his skills and passions to drive growth, creativity and unlock value within startups and legacy media companies. He is an angel investor, transactional executive and engaged with a variety of companies focused-on content creation, distribution and M&A.
Carlin has spent thirty-plus years at the forefront of the evolving media landscape. He joined the core team that founded Telepictures, which merged to become Lorimar-Telepictures (the largest independent studio at the time), that was acquired by Warner Bros. There he went on to build and manage a vast portfolio of first-run and off-network TV programs and theatrical movies in domestic syndication. Ten years later, he left Time Warner to become a partner and President at Digital Convergence, a startup convergent media company that raised $200 million in financing. He rejoined Time Warner as President of HBO’s Domestic TV Group, a business he built, pioneering the premium off-cable distribution model, generating close to $1 bil in new revenue for HBO.
Carlin currently manages a portfolio of angel investments and is producing a range of premium scripted and non-scripted projects. He also runs an executive coaching business where he works with C-suite media executives and startup founders. He is Executive Chairman of Reelay, a UGC-fueled content recommendation platform.
As a transactional advisor and consulting producer Carlin has worked with Dean Devlin, Rev. TD Jakes, Tegna Media, GRB Entertainment, Wave Entertainment & Sports and partnered with Rosie O’Donnell on her encore talk show, Rosie. Carlin produced Decoding Deepak, a documentary about the life of Deepak Chopra.
Scott is a board member of Hologenix, owner of Celliant, a category leader in responsive textiles, KDPI-FM, a community radio station he co-founded in Ketchum, Idaho and Project Biome, an organization dedicated to advancing the global adoption of regenerative agriculture, re-wilding rivers and deploying regenerative tech.
He received his B.A. in Communications from the University of Colorado and an M.A. in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica.
Scott is the father of four sons, an avid fly fisherman, trail runner, nature-lover, practitioner of the Wim Hof Method and dedicated to using the principles of Flow to achieve peak performance in all aspects of life.
